Everybody has seen the amazing new 3D TVs in the stores, and some people may have already upgraded to one, however, what about everyone else? Is it something that is worthwhile? Eventually it doesn’t seem like anyone will have an option, it will be like when HD took over the world. It took a couple of years, however, you can’t come across an old style of television in the stores anymore.

They are all digital and HD models. For many individuals, they would upgrade once the new technology was available and they did not want to wait until they actually needed a new television. The same will be true for 3D televisions. There is a certain segment of the population, even in these difficult economic times, that will upgrade to a 3D television even though they don’t have to have a new television.

These are the types of people who must have the best of the best and have to have the newest of the new. They are the kinds of people who upgrade their cell phones every month or two when they see something new, without regard for the costs involved. But there are a certain amount of people that will need new televisions soon and will still have the option between regular HD and 3D HD televisions. For this group, they are going to wish to know if the additional expense of 3D is worth it.

Knowing that 3D looks awesome and that there are likely to be a lot more shows and movies displayed in that format in the near future, and the almost inevitable fact that every television manufactured soon will have 3D capabilities, you still have a choice right now. So to 3D or not to 3D is definitely the question. 3D is trendy, that’s a statement that can not be disputed. But how much are you prepared to give up in comfort for that cool is the next question.

Do you want to wear the glasses which are required? How much do you love it? There are several individuals that will never care for 3D, and for numerous reasons they will never wish to upgrade to the technology. If you don’t think that you will ever consistently watch television in 3D, then do not upgrade. Don’t pay for technology that won’t be used. Even when every network offers something in 3D, there will always be standard 2D available.

We all know the Roku is great from streaming our favorite TV shows and movies, but few people know that it also makes a great internet radio. With the addition of just a few channels from the Roku channel store, you can stream literally thousands of radio stations from around the world on your TV or your audio system. I have my Roku plugged into my surround sound system and the audio quality is superb! Here are our favorite Roku channels that let you tune in the world.

Tune-In
This channel comes from RadioTime.com, a website that provides links to thousands of radio stations around the world streaming on the internet. Radio Time is especially good if you missed your favorite talk radio show on your local station and you long to listen to it. Just look it up on Radio Time and more than likely, it’s on another station playing somewhere else in a different time slot. If it’s streaming on the net, Radio Time has it!

Shoutcast
This popular streaming audio website now has a Roku channel! You’ll never know what you’ll find here. Unlike Tune-In which limits itself to real terrestrial radio stations, Shoutcast gives anyone with a computer and microphone the ability to broadcast anything they want over the internet. Thus, you’ll find some gems, along with some real stinkers on this channel. But, that’s what makes it so fun!

Radio Paradise
A fairly new channel on the Roku scene, Radio Paradise is a single station that prides itself on “music being picked by a real human being”. It’s a single station with an eclectic selection of music, plus as an added bonus, beautiful HD scenery photos are displayed on your TV while the music is playing. As I’m writing this article, RP is playing Sara Swenson’s “Passing Cars, Passing Time”. As the song is playing, HD photos of various classic cars are being displayed on my HDTV. Pretty cool! I’ve only been listening to the channel for a few days as of this writing. So far, I’m very impressed!

Baeble Music
Another fairly new channel is the Baeble Music Channel. Baeble features thousands of concerts, music videos and interviews of indie artists from around the world. Video quality is excellent! If you’re an indie music fan, this channel is for you.

Pandora
This channel based on the popular website doesn’t necessarily stream terrestrial radio stations from around the world. Instead you choose a music format, song title or artist that you want to hear. If that song is available on Pandora, you will hear not only the song, but Pandora’s recommendation on what it thinks you may like based on your previous choices. You can setup different channels with different music genres, artists, etc.

Most Roku users who purchased their device never intended it to be a radio. However, if you add these channels to your lineup, I believe you’ll never go back to listening to your old AM/FM radio that’s in your house. I haven’t! Now if I can just find a way to install the Roku in my car so I don’t have to listen to the same old local stations…hmm…

Wayne Fulton is a Roku fan who is always looking for ways to take his Roku device to the next level. You can find his webpage at http://myrokureviews.com.

The salesperson may not tell you this, but you cannot just bring home your HDTV and use your old antenna system. You will need to install an HDTV antenna to get a clear reception. The antenna you use for your HDTV is quite critical. A highly directional antenna with fringe area reception makes the best HDTV antenna.

Most people buy an HDTV and are completely flummoxed there after. A common query asked is, – How do I install an HDTV antenna?

Here are some things to remember when installing your antenna:

The objective with HDTV antennas is to pick up the signal directly from the transmitting tower without picking up signals that are bouncing off buildings, electrical towers and wires. This is where fringe area antennas come handy. They are designed to reject signals coming from any direction other than straight ahead.

An important thing to keep in mind is to avoid using an antenna mounted amplifier in urban areas. These antennas will amplify everything and make good and clear reception really difficult. With High definition televisions it is best to mount your antenna away from all reflective things and any other antennas in the area. Also try to mount the antenna as high as possible to avoid second hand signals.

If you want to pick signals from multiple stations check the location of the stations. If the stations are more than 30 degrees apart you may need to invest in an antenna rotator for your antenna. Also, it is important to check the distance of your home from the radio station. If you live less than 5 miles from the station, you might want to invest in a 10 or 20 db attenuator to reduce the signal. This will prevent your HDTV set from being overloaded and give you a clear signal.

Another important thing to look out for is strong signals from FM and TV stations. This is one of the most common causes of poor reception on HDTV. An FM trap or FM filter then becomes necessary. The thing to keep in mind is that the antenna will catch signals from all kinds of stations and bring in the whole broadcast spectrum. This can overload the receiver of the HDTV. Too many signals or too high a signal is just as bad as too low a signal.

In the case that you live in the back of the beyond, are at least 30 miles away from any kind of radio station and are using the antenna to feed only one HDTV station, then you need to use an antenna mounted amplifier with a deep fringe antenna. Also to increase the life of your antennas seal all outdoor connections with coax seal or RTV. Humidity in the atmosphere can cause your connections to corrode and kill your reception.

Thus there are several things to keep in mind when installing the antenna on your HDTV set. It is best to go in for the best antenna available on the market so that you can enjoy all the benefits of having the best in digital technology and home theatre systems.

Wall-mounted television sets are common features in many homes today because people love both the extra floor space and the sophisticated look this setup gives their living rooms, bedrooms, and lounges. Add in the fact that plasma TV mounts are much more budget-friendly than expensive, full-sized entertainment centers, and you can see why this is a very popular option for enhancing home theater systems.

Although many folks choose to hang their television on fixed flat screen mounts so that the unit is flush with the wall, there are important benefits to being able to tilt your set up and down. For example, if you decide to hang your television above eye level, you might inadvertently be sacrificing picture quality since not all screens look good from off-center angles. Plasma TV mounts that allows you to adjust the viewing angle by as many as 20 degrees can make a huge difference in picture quality.

Some people are under the impression that it is more difficult to install a tilting mount than a fixed one, but that’s not the case at all. This is a project that even a DIY beginner can handle, so gather your tools and follow the instructions below.

Install the wall bracket. For this step, you’ll need a tape measure, stud finder, pencil, electric drill, and level. Use the tape measure to help determine the height at which you want to hang the television, bearing in mind that the wall bracket will be more or less at the center of the screen. Next, use the stud finder to locate the studs that will support the bracket. Mark each stud with the pencil. Then, use your electric drill to affix the wall bracket to the studs. Check the result with the level and adjust if necessary.

Screw the adjustment bars into the back of your television. To complete this step, you will need an electric drill or a screwdriver. The adjustment bars are the vertical arms that align with the holes on the rear panel of the television set and allow you to hang the unit on the wall bracket. Use the drill or screwdriver to secure the bars into place by means of the screws provided in the mounting kit. Almost all flat screen mounts come with screws in a variety of sizes to accommodate different television models.

Attach the television to the wall bracket. Most flat screen mounts manufactured today feature a “lift-and-hook” design to make installation as easy as possible. So for this step, you most likely just need to lift the television to the appropriate spot on the wall bracket, and hook the bars into place. Once the television is securely mounted, there should still be enough space between it and the wall to let you tilt the screen approximately 15 to 20 degrees from center.

Being able to adjust your screen in this manner can come in handy when you are watching television from the floor, bed, or low sofa, or when you want to move the screen out of the glare of the sun or artificial lighting. If you want this extra functionality in your home entertainment system, be sure to buy one of the many types of tilting plasma TV mounts that are available instead of the standard or fixed variety.

t’s probably safe to say that a majority of consumers spend more time and energy deciding which plasma or LCD television model to buy than which display method to employ afterwards. That makes sense, as we all tend to be more vigilant about big-ticket items than any lower-priced accessories that might be required.

But flat screen mounts should be an exception to this rule. The way you mount or display your TV set can affect things like picture quality, floor space, functionality, and general viewing experience, and is therefore something that deserves close attention. With the sheer number of wall brackets, shelves, swivel arms, and other types of flat screen mounts on the market today, some general guidelines about the essential items to consider when shopping for these products might prove useful.

    * At home. Aesthetically pleasing displays are important to homeowners, which is why fixed flat screen mounts are especially popular among this demographic. By mounting your television on wall brackets, you can achieve a clean, contemporary look while also increasing the amount of floor space in your viewing area. Conversely, if you have a lot of additional electronic equipment, such as speakers, video game systems, and a DVD/Blu-Ray player, a TV stand with shelving or a full-sized entertainment center would be smart choices as well.

    * In commercial environments. Televisions and monitors are omnipresent in today’s commercial arenas. Drinking establishments and eateries pull in more money when they have the ability to put the big game on TV, so a ceiling mount is perfect for these types of businesses. By hanging your television from the ceiling, you not only save floor and wall space, but also make it easier for all patrons to get a great view of the action.

    * In public institutions. Schools, hospitals, libraries, and similar institutions also have a need for displaying TVs or multimedia screens in a convenient, functional manner. Swivel shelves are particularly useful for these institutions, as are articulating mounts that let you pull the TV back and forth or rotate it to various positions.

    * For trade shows. Trade shows are all about grabbing attention, which means the display type you choose is of paramount importance. Portable stands that can be set up and taken down quickly and easily are preferred by trade show pros. Many stands now come with shelves that can hold brochures or sales catalogs, which is a must for engaging potential customers that pass by. Wall brackets that get the screen off the floor and out of the way are also popular because they free up space within the already cramped booth. Tilting, adjustable, or ceiling flat screen mounts work best for reaching larger crowds at heavily attended shows.

As you can see, there are a number of affordable and functional television display solutions to choose from. Be sure to take the above points into consideration before making your final decision.

A plasma TV screen can change the meaning of entertainment at home. Many people purchase a new plasma TV every year. They invest a considerable amount of money to attain the best possible color accuracy, clarity, and vibrancy of a picture to enhance their family entertainment experience. With the help of a high class home theater system and a big TV screen, it is possible to attain the same entertainment which use to be attainable only at cinema halls and movie theaters.

In order to get the best possible entertainment through a Plasma TV, it is necessary to attain appropriate TV installation services. It is a costly accessory and it needs to be installed properly to avoid any loss or damage. However, you can avoid the services of TV installers by learning the appropriate steps and guides for a plasma TV installation.

The following tips will help you manage a perfect TV installation to attain the best possible entertainment at your home.

1) Plasma TV sets are often placed in dark rooms to avoid any light interruption. Place the seats alongside the wall of the TV room which is exposed to light, while the television should be mounted on the opposite wall. Plasma TVs are more prone to glare and mirror image than most LCD TVs because of the glossy screens. Artificial illuminations may also cause light interruptions and hence avoid using too many lights.

2) There should be enough wall space for a TV installation. Before buying a TV, take measurements of the viewing distance so that you may purchase the precise screen size suitable for your TV room. For typical 42″ plasma TV sets, there should be at least 5 ft to 9 ft viewing distance. If the viewing distance is about 11 ft, you may purchase a 50″ HD TV set.

3) Before your TV installation, decide about the placement of the TV screen. Either you can choose to use a TV stand to place the TV screen, or you may decide to mount the flat panel TV and hang it against the wall. If you decide to mount the flat screen on the wall, purchase proper tools for mounting the screen before a plasma TV installation. A tilt wall mount would be ideal for living room and bedroom areas. However, if it is not possible, you may choose for an articulated swivel-arm mount.

4) Before mounting the screen, verify the height at which you will attach the plasma mount. The height of the TV screen should allow viewers to enjoy watching TV comfortably to attain the best flat panel TV viewing experience even if they watch for hours.

After a TV installation, it is advisable to conceal wires and cable tangles by running or fishing the cables through the wall. However, allow spare inputs that may be used to add a few new cables if required in the future.

When your looking for a professional TV installation for your next project, give us a call. Our TV installers can get you the best set-up possible for your new home theater system.

As with any TV there are many important factors to look at. Some of the biggest benefits of this TV are the cost, and the size.

This Particular Samsung is a 19 inch LCD screen, making it fairly inexpensive yet still able to provide great picture quality. As with any TV there are many important factors to look at. Some of the biggest benefits of this TV are the cost, and the size. Some of the biggest downfalls are the lack of inputs and the image quality. It is important to decide what you actually want in a TV before you begin looking to buy one. If there are certain features you want or don’t want, make sure the TV’s you consider meet those guidelines.

First the good things about this TV. If you have a small room, such as an apartment or dorm room this TV is perfect. It is only a 19 inch viewable screen, making it great for small rooms without completely overpowering everything else in the room. However, if you are looking for a larger TV, obviously this would not be a good choice. Another great aspect of this TV is the cost. This TV usually sells for around $400, making it a great deal for an HDTV. Another great aspect of this TV Is the manufacturer. Samsung has been a leader in HDTVs for years and it is no surprise that they make quality products. Samsung is a trusted name in the industry and they are known for giving great phone support if anything goes wrong.

As with everything there are also bad things about this TV. Perhaps one of the biggest downfalls with this TV is that it is only 720p. What that means is that it does not have the capability to display full, 100% high definition programming. Another downfall is the small number of available connectors. This TV only has 1 HDMI, 1 Component, 1 S-Video, and 1 RCA Cable connector. That means if you more than one accessory to attach it could be difficult. Each of these different connectors can be used for a variety of things, such as game systems, cable boxes, DVD players, DVD recorders, and more. But with a limited number of connections it can be difficult to get them all connected.

Deciding on this TV comes down to just a few questions. Perhaps the most important is: where will this TV be located? If you plan to use this TV in a large room the smaller size might make it difficult to see from a distance, but if you plan to use this in a small room such as a bedroom or kitchen then it should be perfect. Second, Is full 1080p quality important to you? If you don’t already have HD programming if probably isn’t, if 1080p support is something you want then this might not be the TV for you. Overall this is a great TV, made by a great company. This is probably one of the best smaller HDTVs I have seen on the market. The biggest thing to consider, in my opinion, is the size of the screen. I would give this TV a 9/10 overall because it performs as well as Samsung says, and it is a great price!

You have certainly heard about Digital TV and HDTV. You may even belong to the group of people who decided to buy one for themselves, but all of the information surrounding it confuses you. Much information is rather technical and there are many things hard to understand about HDTVs for average people. So, if you do not belong to the few people who are familiar with the topic, take a look around the internet & look up terms that you aren’t familiar with.

1080p means that the resolution of the picture is 1,920 vertical pixels by 1,080 horizontal pixels and ‘p’ stands for progressive scanning. This format works on the same principle as 720p; the only difference is that in this type there are more pixels and the resolution is better. Progressive scanning offers a smoother picture, as 1080 horizontal lines are scanned progressively or in succession in a vertical frame that is repeated 30 times a second.

There are a few obvious factors to being able to detect resolution differences: the resolution of the screen, the size of the screen, and the viewing distance. To be able to detect differences between resolutions, the screen must be large enough and you must sit close enough. So the question becomes “How do I know if need a higher resolution or not?” Here is your answer.

Based on the resolving ability of the human eye (with 20/20 vision it is possible to resolve 1/60th of a degree of an arc), it is possible to estimate when the differences between resolutions will become apparent.

So, for example, let’s take a 50-inch screen, the benefits of 720p vs. 480p start to become apparent at viewing distances closer than 14.6 feet and become fully apparent at 9.8 feet. For the same screen size, the benefits of 1080p vs. 720p start to become apparent when closer than 9.8 feet, and become full apparent at 6.5 feet. In my opinion, 6.5 feet is closer than most people will sit to their 50″ plasma TV (even through the THX recommended viewing distance for a 50″ screen is 5.6 ft). So, most consumers will not be able to see the full benefit of their 1080p TV.

However, front projectors and rear projection displays are a different story. They make it very easy to obtain large screen sizes. Plus, LCD and Plasma displays are constantly getting larger and less expensive. Let’s look at a 123-inch screen and a projector with a 1280×720 resolution. For a 123-inch screen, the benefits of 720p vs. 480p starts to become apparent at viewing distances closer than 36 feet (14 feet behind the back wall) and become fully apparent at 24 feet (2 feet behind the back wall). For the same screen size, the benefits of 1080p vs. 720p start to become apparent when closer than 24 feet and become fully apparent at 16 feet. This means that people further back in the room would have a much better viewing experience if I purchased a 1080p projector and that people in the front row would notice a drastic improvement.

It took awhile to convince my husband that we were in need of a new television in our home. We checked out all the various options available on the market, including the brands of Sony, Samsung, and RCA, but the Vizio Vo37lf stood out above the rest, partly because of it’s affordability, multiple connection points and 1080p resolution. It was a win-win situation for us.

Why did we like it so much?

1) Get razor sharp clarity of picture

2) Crisp and clear images

3) SRS TruSurround XT

4) 178 degree viewing angle

5) Affordable HDTV

6) 1080p which combines 1080i and 720p

7) Lots of connection points with HDMI v1.3 inputs and analog video inputs

One year warranty for parts and labor

9) Free lifetime technical support and free onsite repair

When we were researching for the type of HDTV we were wanting, we looked at all of the popular brands. After hearing so many good things about the Vizio brand, we decided this was where we wanted to focus our attention.

The 37-inch Vizio vo37lf television was the one we got, partly because it was very affordable and the price was the amount of money we had saved up. We searched online and in several stores and found the televisions on sale from $470 to $850, with the one we bought for $579.

Another benefit is it came with a one-year warranty on parts and labor, as well as free lifetime technical support and free onsite labor. The later is a service Vizio provides for televisions 30 inches and higher, something the US-based company stands by.

The Vizio vo37lf is equipped with stunning picture quality – very crisp and clear images. All of a sudden your whites will be whiter and your blacks even blacker. It also has 1080p resolution, which combines the qualities of the 1080i with its superior resolution and 720p with its progressive-scan smoothness.

It has SRS TruSurround XT, with allows the viewer feel like they’re in a theatre setting. The other positive is the amount of options for connections, as it’s equipped with three HDMI v.1.3 inputs with two on the back and one on the side.

These spots are perfect for game applications or camcorders. It also has support for analog video inputs like VGA, component video, composite video, and S-video, making it ideal for any portable devices like Wii, Blu-ray, Xbox 360, and others.

There are a few drawbacks like the contrast can be off now and then, and it has a fuzzy picture at 480i and 480p. It also doesn’t always work with all available PC resolutions, but for a HDTV with 1080i, the Vizeo vo37lf’s other qualities are well worth the price.

It was very easy to see why many people gave the Vizio vo37lf HDTV such a positive review. It’s a television perfect for people who are wanting something inexpensive, but also great quality in picture and sound. It’s hard to find much fault, and we found it easy to recommend. We’ve quickly joined the band wagon!
